Carlingford Line | terminating services; all stations services to Clyde |
There is currently only one service in the early morning which connects to the city directly. For most times, a train-change at Clyde, the other terminus of the Line, is necessary to reach other stations.
A major development of Carlingford station was proposed, as part of the Parramatta to Chatswood Rail Link project, but in 2003, this was postponed indefinitely by the then-New South Wales Transport Minister Michael Costa citing a lack of projected passenger numbers and economic viability.
However, on 11 August 2010, the Federal Government promised 2.6 billion dollars towards this project, who, along with the NSW State Government, will extend the line from Epping to Parramatta through the Carlingford line. Carlingford station, along with Telopea, Dundas, Rydalmere and Parramatta, would be upgraded, and Camellia and Rosehill stations would be demolished. A new station, Rosehill-Camellia, would be built. The line would be upgraded to accommodate 8-carriage trains, and the line would be duplicated. Work is due to start in 2011, with a prospected 2017 finish.
A large amount of land lies behind the station, for future extensions of the line. A redevelopment of the land next to the station was subsequently put on hold because of the postponement of the link.
Sydney Buses runs five routes via Carlingford station:
Carlingford is also serviced by NightRide service N61 to Town Hall via Strathfield.
